What should I expect in class?

The Kindermusik classroom is an active and joyful exploration of your child's development and of your relationship to one another. Songs and dances will foster your special bond, chants and toe-tickles will bubble up lots of giggles, and instrument exploration and play-along will encourage your child's burgeoning independence. As your educator, I will be a guide as you observe and customize activities to your child's developmental and stimulatory needs. Be comfortable. Be open. Be joyful.

How do I get the most out of my Kindermusik experience?

Make active use of your At Home Materials! Class is a lot of fun and provides a unique social setting for your child, but the real learning happens at home. Listen often to your At Home CD. The more familiar your child is with the semester's songs and activities the more likely she'll feel comfortable participating in class.

Why aren't un-enrolled siblings allowed in class?

Each Kindermusik curriculum has been rigorously researched to be age-appropriate. That means the songs and activities were specifically chosen to meet the developmental needs of the age range for which each class is advertised. Additionally, and even more importantly, your enrolled child deserves your sole focus and attention during class. It is a special time, once a week, for you to communicate and bond with one another.

What if I can't sing?

First of all, I firmly believe that everyone can sing. Regardless of your ability, it is important for your child to hear your voice in class and at home. Children learn best when they are emotionally connected to an activity. This is because new information first passes through the brain's limbic system, the seat of our emotional self. No matter what you may believe your skill level to be, I promise that your child thinks your voice is the most special and beautiful sound on earth! Your expressive participation both aids in the learning process and helps to build a more confident communicator in your child.
